to modify this application to increase depth in a series of images of the same subject taken at slightly different focus? For example, in macrophotography where any single image tends to have a very narrow depth of field.

Yes. I have already considered this sort of operation. I believe there is some research on accomplishing this feat using wavelets. I would have to look into in detail to figure out how to do it (although it seems fairly intuitive to me). I will add it to the list of things to consider, but my schedule is quite busy right now.Reply to This
