Harmony Assistant is easy to use. Once you set up the tools you need most, you can move them around for easy use. The interface is simple and allows the custom setup. I started using Harmony Assistant a year ago. The interface is intuitive and only a bare minimum of the great manual is needed. Harmony Assistant allowed me to write and arrange 22 bebop tunes and burn to 3 CDs in 11 months without touching any instrument. This looks like a good teaching tool too. The only software close to Harmony Assistant costs $$$. This utility for music production should have been a part of Garage Band instead of the crippled virtual keyboard in GB. Harmony Assistant exports AIFF files that are easy to drag and drop into GB. The printouts of the scores are great. Some of the instrument sounds of Gold database such as the sax can be improved by adding a slight reverb with the sound effects of Harmony Assistant. The authors are very responsive and helpful for tech support. Eric
