This is Apple software. Why does it never show up in Software Update? That's more than annoying, Apple expecting me to login to the .Mac website regularly to check for backups. I use .Mac for email and web/iDisk storage, neither of which require me to login to the site regularly. How did they expect me to know about this if it weren't for VT? *grumble*

At the risk of repeating myself, this is Apple's software. It should show up in Software Update. Period. I know all about the free stuff. I'm a .Mac user and find the value in (1) a very short email address and (2) 100MB of easy-to-use (for my wife) web space.Monday, February 09 2004 @ 03:32 PM PST

Regarding how you would know about Backup 2.01, you should have received an email regarding it, as I did. Perhaps you unsubscribed from that email list, or never subscribed in the first place. It is really worth being on that email list to take advantage of the freebies .Mac Subscribers get from time to time. I use Sticky Brain every day, which was free for .Mac Subscribers, but only for a limited time. So sign up for that list! I use all the features of .Mac and I think it is worth more than $100 a year. But it you only use one or two features, it probably is not worth it to you.Reply to This
