I turns out that trying to run the installer from the disk image does not work properly... Drag the contents to your hard drive -- perhaps into your Applications Folder specifically, I'm not sure -- and then running the installer works fine.
Cool App. Get it.
And the developer acted promptly and helpfully to my request for help with the installation...
