It's unfortunate to see a highly regarded product split into two branches -- with two sets of code to maintain and with QA and testing requirements essentially doubled. It seems to me this is a "solution" in search of a problem. I can see a "standard" and "pro" approach with an office productivity suite (in which additional components can make up the pro edition); but this excellent one-note utility doesn't lend itself well to being forked in this way. I think it may make for more headaches than what it's worth to the developer.
Also, no mention is made here on VT as to the main distinction between the lite and pro products, nor what the pricing will be for the lite product. Yes, I could download a "Read Me" file, but why could not CodeTek provide a URL which details these things?

I have no doubt that information is on the developer's web site; but when a developer posts a product on VT, there should be some attempt to describe the product HERE. I don't expect the full equivalent of a detailed "Read Me" file but I do expect a quick summary. And, as I said, at the least the developer could have included (in the VT product description) a URL that takes us DIRECTLY to the page in question (and not just to his home page). What we have instead is no indication as to how this "lite" product differs from the pro version or what the pricing will be. Any developer who wants to encourage sales should not make existing and potential customers work hard to get it.

lame excuse.if you can't be bothered to visit the developers site for such information, then thats fault.
no matter how much information on VT, it'll never be enough for some.

No matter how much information on VT? How about NONE? There is NO information which is UNIQUE to this product. It's just a generic description which could just as easily apply to the Pro edition. Do you mean to suggest it's asking too much to include one or two statements about how this product is different or -- failing that -- to supply a URL? If you think it's too much to ask, then you and I definitely disagree on this.VT is a library of software for the Mac, and if developers want their products to be successful, they should make a good faith effort to describe these products. Does this mean they must write the equivalent of a full "Read me" file here -- of course not. No one is talking about that. I'm speaking only of a couple lines or a URL, and you come back with "...it will never be enough for some." Apparently you think a few lines is indeed too much to ask then.
