TTP4 ran every test without so much as a raised eyebrow. It then repaired the Directory with ease.
Just to be sure that no tricks were being played (various utilities use different methods of addressing various problems and one method may report an error that a different method will not), I then tried DW3 as a double-check to see if the error was indeed gone.....it was.
Conclusion: TTP4 repaired a Directory that DW3 could not. It also addressed and corrected whatever problem was causing DW3 to get an error.
All repairs were performed while booted from CD with both DiskWarrior 3 and TechTool Pro 4----NOTE: I've seen some comments about the lengthly boot up time from CD. This is due to the need of OS X to establish a ram disk for scratch purposes and is not due to any utility being poorly coded. Both DW3 and TTP4 take a very long time to boot because that is what OS X requires at this time. Perhaps in the future, coding will be created that corrects this.
- In the meantime, don't penalize a utility for an OS requirement.
If your budget limits you to only one heavy duty repair utility, TechTool Pro 4 is a good investment.
