File problem

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

I used the product to rip a dvd so I could watch it on my computer. It was supposed to rip to a avi file type but once it was complete, the computer showed it as a document file type. I couldn't do anything with it. What did I do wrong?

After the second attemp, it did save it properly as an avi file, but when I play it in quicktime pro(latest version), I don't get any audio...
