So, can anyone tell me how Photoshop Elements compares to Adobe PhotoDeluxe (which came bundled with my 333 iMac) or Photoshop 5 (which I also own)?

I'd like to know BEFORE I start fiddling around with stuff.

By the way, Photoshop 5 (a Classic app) runs just fine on my 333 iMac w/ 256M memory. I started with OS 8.6 and am now up to OS 10.2.8 (Apple happily informs me my computer cannot run any OS' after this). So hop on ebay and BUY that $50 strawberry iMac I saw; it'll do what you need without reeming you in the process.

I can neither recommend nor disparrage Photoshop Elements as I feel PhotoDeluxe was a damned good program!

Elements is a more powerful program without the extreme complexity of Photoshop. I prefer it over all Adobe's products for photo manipulation at the level it's intended for (not a pro image shop). PhotoDeluxe is fine if you are OK with the settings it gives you. Elements is much more powerful. If you aren't getting Elements free with a scanner or whatever, then Graphic Converter is also very good, but the interface is a little cluttered.
