Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Recommend Product: NO

Granted it is a good program but it an optional offering and I find their demanding we all buy it over again is a bit much. The middleman is gone and now we are all supposed to pony up all over again, I think not. Below is the email I sent them regarding their stance, perhaps if enough people speak up they may rethink their attitude.

Gentlemen;

I find your unwillingness to honor any past support for your product under C&G to be totally unacceptable and will no longer use your products or recommend them to my network of clients and consultants. Having paid for and registered previous versions only to be told that now with the middleman gone you want full price reminds me of the likes of Microsoft. The difference is they have a monopoly on the market for now and thus they can get away with it for a while longer until Linux catches up due to customers defecting. You on the other hand do not have a monopoly and your product is not that much in demand. Good luck.

No upgrade pricing? Sorry I can pass for now. - Tortoise

Just received a email from the developer who explained the reasons behind his no upgrading policy and I will revise my position now that he has provided some of the reasons behind the policy. It is complicated but one of those deals where the closing of the doors of C&G has left some developers caught in a rather difficult position. I won't go into the details but leave it to the developer if he cares to post the details here and on his web site. I understand his position and hope he chooses to make it more public in the future.
