It's just too bad that iTunes suffers from inferior audio output quality. I recently set up a powerbook a music server to my high end home stereo. Sound was thin and lacking in bottom end. This is playing both high bit MP3's and internet streams. For comparison, I tried Audion. The sound quality improved dramatically. Too bad that Audion lacks iTunes beautiful interface.

Poor playback Audio Quality - aliensporebomb
I believe I've found an intermittent bug with the equalizer that can intermittently cause terrible, weak audio with itunes on both PC and Mac platforms. At first I thought it was my headphones but it happened with several pairs of headphones as well as monitoring speakers. I set itunes to not use the sound enhancer and to turn the equalizer off, quit itunes and relaunched it and the sound was vastly better. Then I was able to turn those options and and everything worked again. I wish I could duplicate this with some regularity so I could do a bug report.Reply to This
