This new version almost totally negates what great things there were with the 2.x versions. For the 3.0 update, they note "Implemented in Cocoa, making many user interface enhancements possible," and I wish to the gods that they would follow up on this potential.
The Ticker is the main reason I use the VTPro app, and it is totally proken in this revision. Half the time, it doesn't connect for updates at all, the rest of the time, the user interface problems detract from the experience. It used to be that I could read the ticker list over a translucent background, letting my desktop picture show through. Now, there is a transparency slider, but the entire window fades away-- the scroll bar, the title bar, the background, and even the text, which makes it near impossible to read. all one has to do is look at the transparency settings in the Terminal app (or, indeed, v.2.x of VTPro) to see how to do this right.
On top of these problems, there no longer seems to be a way to set VTPro to be a startup item, and only show the ticker. Every time I restart my Mac, I have to go over and close the "Main" window. Granted, the ability to download directly and queue downloads from within the VTPro app are nice pluses, but the minuses in regards to the Ticker make this nearly useless to me. I'm going to have to go back to v.2.x for now, until this situation improves.

mboszko,Sorry you're having trouble. You should be able to get a similar appearance to before by adjusting the opacity of the individual background colors. There's a slider for this purpose in the color picker window, allowing you to adjust transparency more finely that before.
I'll try to fix the problem with the main window always opening for the next release, and see if I can do anything about your connection failures.
