Won't allow startup from CDROM!

I'm using 10.2.8 now. I can't boot from a CDROM by holding the 'C' key down during startup. Same goes with the 'option' key, to select a startup volume. Logitech says they only support up to 10.2.6. I have Panther on order and am wondering if I'll even be able to use my G4 with this keyboard after I install it.
