Dear Tony.
i think safari needs a cache utility that stops it from downloading images twice.
i open an image then if select "download image to disk" Safari still fetches the image all over again from the remote server. instead of recalling it from cache.

i thought squid takes care of that. am i mistaken or is there something wrong on my end.

System Info:OSX 10.2.8 Safari 1.0 (v85)

still downlowding images twice - adg

I've tested this using some images from my homepage, Apple and a commercial "images" site. The images on my page and the Apple page were logged as TCP_HITs by Squid when I right-clicked to download them. This means that Squid is pulling the images from the cache, even though it appears that Safari is re-downloading them. On the commercial image site, each time I tried the image was downloaded again from the origin site. I guess some site's put false expiry information on their content so they can prevent useful caching, and get more accurate download counts.
