Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

OK- I admit that the software provided for this printer is terrible. BUT I have managed to find out what the problem is. The Scan and Fax software IS NOT THE PROBLEM. When this software opens, it ALSO opens the "Lexmark X73 Monitor" app as well. This monitor is the resource hog that slows your systems to a crawl. Until recently, I have always had to open the process viewer and force quit this hidden application AND also disable it from my login items for my account (such a pain!). However, if you choose to view the contents of the Scan and Fax utility, and open the "Monitor" folder, simply drag the "Lexmark X73 Monitor" application OUT of this folder and all will be well! You will lose the ability to simply press buttons on your X73, but all of the functionality of both your computer and your X73 will be restored. I use this printer on my PowerMac G4 running Panther 10.3.1. Questions? Post here and I will try to help.

Easy Fix for this Driver - EAlan

I also have troubles after I downloaded the software from Lexmark. I've got an X73 hooked by USB to a G4 running Tiger. After successful download and installation, a window pops up requiring that I configure the x73 as my default printer--a thing I don't want to do. But, I said what the heck and pressed the button, but nothing happened. The program froze up. So, then I try to trash, but now I can't empty trash because "Lexmark x73 Monitor in use". So, I use "find" to locate the application which doesn't appear in my applications bar. No such program. I browse to look for anything Lexmark, but I still can't trash what's left of a crippled program. So, now my laptop is screwed up. Thanks Lexmark! If the previous person can tell me how to trash the monitor, let me know.

Easy Fix for this Driver - cosmacdewd

I can't seem to find the monitor folder. I'm using 10.4 on a mac book pro. I get the dialogue that says the english library is incomplete or something like that... I've got the x73 driver in my apps, but I can't get it to print. It looks like it's sending the message, bar lights up, etc. but nothing happens. When I go into the scan and copy ap, I can't find the monitor folder or ap - I just see a scan and copy menu, with maintenance icons along the bottom...
help?
