VLC can't corrupt video drivers in mid play. Maybe if VLC had a very nasty crash it could, but then the videodriver folks are equally at fault for not protecting their drivers as they ought too, since this is supposed to be impossible on OSX.

It is known however that our multiple monitor support is somewhat flawed. Because of that we might use QuickTime and QuickDraw incorrectly. But then again, it would be an error at both sides of the software in that case. (so apple would be at fault as well)

I'm talking about very rare situations here. One in a million changes etc. You shouldn't be so worried. It's just a small PRAM thing. I can't even count the number of times i had to reset my PRAM because something was wrong with it.
