It might help if you explain why you think people should use Abyss Web Server X1 instead of Apache -- what you see its advantages as, for example, and also where you recognize that Apache would be the better choice. As it is, I use Apache, and without knowing how or whether this server is supposed to be better, I have no incentive to even download and try it.

I don't know very much about web-servers, but I feel as though I can trust the built in Apache because it is so widely used. The built in Apache is so easy to use. The hardest part is setting up your network router, port forwarding to pass network traffic. They should make the advantages it has over Apache clearer. If it had built in Dyn DNS support I could be tempted.Wednesday, January 21 2009 @ 07:44 AM PST

"I feel as though I can trust the built in Apache because it is so widely used"Don't see that as a reason to trust any product. Windoze and Wonder Bread and Twinkies are also widely used. Just look at the disaster of Vista.
The ONLY way that Apache is easier to use is if you merely turn on Web Sharing in your System Preferences and do almost nothing else.
Try to stop image hijacking, throttle bandwidth, move log file location, block hackers, and almost anything else and you will find Abyss to be easier, faster, and more stable.

I just downloaded abyss and tried a few things so I'll post something more lengthy later but I can see it is easier than apache. Messing with the config, setting allow/deny blocking certain files from opening, setting certain directories to open and some to not, this was trivial in abyss. I could do it in apache but then if I need to allow a certain IP to a certain directory I would have to either pull out a manual or rack my brain. Abyss I can see is click, click click.I know I am going to find a good "forms" plugin and then I am sold.
If you want to mess with config files, stick with apache. You want remote front end that is wysiwyg simple, abyss might be the tool.
