I've been using Adobe Golive for several years, and it gets slower with every new release. Running on a Dual 450MHz G4 It takes several minutes to load my site. The same is true everytime you need to update the site. The latest release is more than one can stomach. It's obvious that the people at Adobe don't use GoLive, or they would have gotten it fixed by now, unless they just don't know avy better. If I were the programming manager, I would be ashamed...
Trying to FTP to my ISP will normally terminate at some point with an error that gives you no clue whatsoever as to what caused the error and the FTP process to stop. I have to use Transmit, or Interarchy to FTP because GoLive invariably always fails. The worse part of it, is that let's say you've already transferred 3500 files, and GoLive gets an error during FTP. It will give you a meaningless dialog showing that it has stopped. If you try to re-connect again, and begin the FTP process again, GoLive begins from scratch, it doesn't have a clue that it has already sent the first 3500 files, and starts sending them all over again. This is really pathetic...
Phtoshop is an awesome program, but I guess Adobe reserves it's worst programmers for GoLive, that's the only thingI can think of...
It trully is amateur hour at its best. What it should do is continue uploading, and maintain a log of the errors, so you can try to correct the problems, and then resend just the few files that generated the errors.
When you quit, or save the site, that will take a long time several minutes. I usually quit when I go to lunch, otherwise it is unbearable.
It amazes me that a company like Adobe can sell such a piece of junk. The find dialog in the html editor is another major piece of junk. I am always having to go back to BBEdit if I want to do any serious editing.
The ONLY reason I use GoLive is to check all the relative links for errors, and also if I want to move a bunch of files, it handles the changes to the relative links well.
