i tried the obvious, moving updater to the starry night folder, copying the application to the applications folder, etc, all w/o success. the updater steadfastly maintains it can't find my copy. i emailed support.

and a previous poster i believe is confused. there was cd shipment to move from v4.x to v4.5, but it appears this is to update v4.5 (pro) to v4.5.1 to support panther.

You must not rename the application, e.g. change the version number!
