Atheism does not deify anything nor anyone. 'Atheism' means absence of religion. No worship, no deification, no belief in higher or supernatural powers. And not all atheists are humanists. Only the religious label atheism as a religion, when it is not.

True. But Atheism is a religious belief, and so deserves to be included in the discussion of religion. Classifing atheism as "not a religion" deprives atheists of this right.

Atheism, like theism is a faith based philosophy so I do lump it in with religion. Theistic religions require faith that a god exists even though they have no absolute proof it does exist. Atheism is simply the other extreme. An atheist has no absolute proof that a god doesn't exist but still asserts that there is no god. An atheist has faith that a god doesn't exist which is not an admission of the unknown. The proper term for someone who acknowledges that there is no absolute proof to support the existence of a god or the absence of a god is agnosticism.
