I use the Sangam Reader for Word that was included with Indesign 2, and the Place text feature. This automatically imports everything from my Word document, and updates the InDesign document any time I make a change in Word. What does this product offer that's better than this?? If anything, this sounds like a step backwards...

Sangam Reader?? - S??????ren Rehn??????

This solution is for customers that don't want to place the text "as-is". It is intented for customers that as an example want to use their own style definitions rather than the one, the word document is using.
Say you want "Headline" instead of "Heading1" and "Body" instead of "Normal".

What we found our customers normally did was:
copy the text as plain text into ID and reapply layout.

By using Smart Paste our customers can as an example awoid to find all the places where the word doc. contains inline bold usage. This can be handled automatically.

In the new InDesign CS Adobe has made it possible for users to make the "plain text" paste. But you still can't get the "highlighted" text transfered automatically.

Hope that helps

Kind Regards
