Q: I just installed Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and now some or all of my StuffIt 8.x products are not functioning properly.
A: Panther installs StuffIt Expander 7.0.3 and supporting StuffIt 7 components. The Panther installer does not see that there are newer StuffIt components on the machine. Some of your StuffIt 8 components will be overwritten.
The solution is simple. Reinstall your StuffIt 8 product using the original installer.
Now run the latest StuffIt 8.x Updater installer available on the StuffIt Deluxe Updates Page, then log out and back in again after installation. As of this writing there is an 8.0.1 Updater available. Check the site periodically for new Updaters that fix specific issues that arise.

Stuffit Deluxe still does not work - UpdatePro
After I have installed Stuffit Deluxe 8.0 from the CD, which I recently received from you, I receive this message: "None of the components will work without Stuffit Engine. Please install from the original installer." I have installed Stuffit Deluxe 8.00 several times from your CD and it still did not work.I, then, reviewed several of your technical updates which directed me to update Stuffit Deluxe to the latest 8.0.1version. When I try to install 8.0.1 update, I received this additional message: "The Stuffit Engine Version currently installed on this computer is not compatible with this update. You must have Version 8.0 (Build 484) of the stuffit engine installed." I have a G4 with 867 MG, 800 Ram and 57 GB Hard drive with OS 10.3 installed. I have already sent another email to another division of your Technical Service Department. All seemed to be have been working okay with your older 7.3 system of Stuffit Deluxe. What is happening with this new editiona of Stuffit Deluxe 8.0 and 8.0.1?
