dr_hfk, it is nice to know that Mellel fits your needs, but why do you have to write it 3 times. Moreover, "academia" involve more than just your field and, in some, the usage of EQUATIONS is essential and on a regular and frequent basis. In these fields Mellel simply FAILS to do the job. And I am not talking about "formal papers" (where only LaTeX will do the job) but, for examle, writing a simple first year homework assignment where you need to insert a simple math expression in line with the text. Yes, you can copy-paste an equation from a third party program (which is OK, in word it works) - but no way you can align it in the line. Thus, if you wish to state that Mellel is good for the "humanities fields of the academia" I wont object, but Mellel is NOT appropriate for academic purposes. I know, I have it for more than a year now and at most I use it for letters !
