Have you ever used Quark to create web pages or PDF's? Good luck. This is a detailed list of bugs submitted several times to Quark over the last two years, that have mostly existed since version 5. Quark doesn't know when they'll be fixed. I have to use Quark 5 to create PDFs, and Quark 6 to export to PDF (they fixed one bug):
1. Hyperlink Window - Anchor's don't indicate if they are in use or not. There is no drop-down triangle to show the connection between hyperlinks and anchors.
2. Hyperlinked text - blue line displays to left of link, falsly giving the appearance that more text is part of the link than actually is. This bug tends to appear when a lot of links are right next to each other, or on successive lines, such as found in an index. This is a display bug, not a functionality bug.
3. Hyperlinks Created in Quark 6.0 don't work at all.
a. New document created in Quark 6.0, created 3 hyperlinks and anchors, exported to PDF, the links don't work at all.
b. Exported that document from Quark 6.0 to Quark 5.01. Loaded into Quark 5.01, exported to PDF (with Acrobat 5), the links don't work at all
c. New document created in Quark 5.01, created hyperlinks and anchors, exported to PDF (with Acrobat 5), links work perfectly.
d. Imported working Quark 5.01 document into Quark 6.0, exported to PDF, links don't work at all.
4. Hyperlink Window contents jump to top - double-click on hyperlink at end of long list, and the list jumps to the top. My window's list requires scrolling to see the end. This bug also appears when connecting a hyperlink and anchor, leaving the user unsure if the correct connection was made.
5. Hyperlink Window - list isn't alphabetized, making it completely impractical for lots of links.
6. PDF Bookmarks - bookmark names are not full length, truncated at 28 characters
7. PDF Inverted Highlight - click on Hyperlinked text and the Inverted Highlight is taller than it should be, crossing into the line above. (Quark - File - Export as PDF - Options - Hyperlinks - select "Highlight - Invert")
8. PDF Bookmarks - smart quotes don't appear correctly & display with a tomato-shape character.
9. Heavier text when style applied to link - any place we create a link, we manually apply the color blue and underline to that text (giving the appearance of a link to be clicked on). This prints fine from Quark 6. When printed from the PDF, that highlighted text is much heavier. Perhaps the hyperlink itself is printing.

I was referring to creating PDFs, which is not "web publishing"Wednesday, May 12 2004 @ 03:42 PM PDT

I guess there is enough programs for Web Design. No Quark. Quark - publishing program. :)Reply to This
