I've been a happy user of TinkerTool for about as long as it's been around. Really disappointed to see it's no longer a PeferencePane. For me, it's so much more convenient to open the PrefPane than to dig through my Applications or Utilities folder, and I don't want to put it in my Dock and further clutter that space. Great utility, but less so now that it's considerably more inconvenient for me to use. At the very least, a PrefPane that launches the app (like Microsoft Mouse, for example) would be better than what we have now with v3.0.

Bummer - no more PrefPane - aaa eee ff

From the readme: The tool has returned to be a standard application, not a preference pane, because Apple was unable to fix some quality problems with the Jaguar System Preferences application.

Thanks, Captain Obvious - brossow

Yeah, I saw that -- it's posted right in the VT product description, after all. However, as I suggested (if you had bothered reading), doing something like Microsoft did and having the PrefPane simply launch the app would be a nice optional feature. As for the claim of problems with Jaguar's PrefPane support ... well, seems like LOTS of other developers are able to get by just fine. Hell, TinkerTool itself has never caused a problem for me as a PrefPane. *shrug*

If it's a hassle "digging" through your Applications and Utilities, maybe you should try LaunchBar.

Yeah, right -- I'm going to spend money on yet another piece of software just so I can launch a free application? No, thanks.
