when entering the command you provided and after entering my password I get this:
Disk Utility Tool 2002, Apple Computer, Inc.
Usage: diskutil [verifyPermissions|repairPermissions] [Mount Point
|Disk Identifier|Device Node]
Verify or repair the permissions of an OS X boot volume.
Root access is required.
Example: diskutil verifyPermissions /
What now?
TIA Tom
Repair Disk Utilitys Permissions
repair Disk Utility's own permissions
Version: 3.0

I got the same message when I tried the command. I discovered that I hadn't included the forward slash (/) after the "repairPermissions" part. You must also include a space after the "repairPermissions" part, then type the forward slash. The forward slash tells where you want the permissions to be repaired - on your hard drive - the forward slash stands for your hard drive. So copy and paste the •entire• next line --->sudo diskutil repairPermissions /
Hope this helps.
