Yes, obviously one can set multiple alarms with the latest version of iCal, the point of our argument is that with the previous default button you could automatically assign several alarms at once for an event - now you have to manually create 1 alarm, choose the time/preset from the pulldown, set the 2nd alarm, choose the time/preset, etc. etc. This used to be a one button process!
Not only that, but each time you change an alarm, it generates a new preset in the pulldown menu - meaning eventually you might have 500 presets in that menu, with no built-in option for editing them! Absolutely moronic.
Bring back the default alarm button, Apple! What were you thinking?

Multiple Alarms/Default Button - missing the point... - JoeSlater
This is a work around (not the way it should be, but it works). Quit iCal. Edit the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist with Apple's property lit editor (double click might work, but I don't know if you need the developer tools). Down near the bottom you will see the PersistentMenu-lastUsedAlarms . You should be able to delete these just fine. Use the litle triangle to look inside. The AlarmDurationKey is in seconds (it's when the alarm starts).Reply to This
