...but take a word like "group" (because it has one of the largest number of synonyms in the English language). Look it up in your average Roget's or--even better--an online reference like http://www.thesaurus.com so that we can be looking at the same thing. Now do it in WordNet/Nisus Thesaurus. Someone tell me how this is this supposed to be better. Granted, it includes a definition (nice, but not what came for), and it has an interesting way of breaking out categories of meaning, but I came here for synomyms. Where are they? And if they are somewhere buried in there, how can I get to them as quickly as with Thesaurus.com, for example? Baffled.

This is a bizarre program, and almost impossible to use.In SpellCatcher, for example, when I type 'group', I immediately get a list of 30+ similr words, sorted by meaning. I can pick a word in 3 seconds.
Similar in MWord's Thesaurus, and a few other ones I've used.
In this application, I get a strange set of links and definitions, and 3 or 4 similar words (only!), and have to sit there and browse stuff. Annoying.
Maybe it's too innovative for me, or too clever, but I also miss the point of this application. Maybe it's mis-named?

Yeah that whole clicking and reading is such a drain. Why can't I have a courier just drive to my house with all the answers I need? What with typing and then moving my eyes 1 degree to the right to read something...I need to rest.Perhaps your head would explode if you had to pick up a book, turn the pages to the area of the word you're looking for, then scan up and down the page to find it. Should we call you when they develop a direct fibre link to the brain? The you wont need to even type or open your eyes and move the eyeballs...in fact, you wont even have to get out of bed. We'll send a nurse to lift you a couple of times a day and put a clean bedpan under you.

Yep, you don't get it. The synonyms are there, they are just more organized than in a regular thesaurus. If you click on "similar" meanings for the word "group", you get "group", "unit", set", "meet", and "communal", all of which are synonyms for "group". If "unit" is along the lines of the meaning you want, there are 2 more specific words: "chemical group" and "radical". If you want a bigger list right from the get-go, click on "More specific" in the first column for 55 synonyms. For words with looser similarities, click on "more general" and you get 4 more words.Reply to This
