It's locking up on me as well on OS 9.2.2 on an iMac. After thrashing version 2.5.2 in order to install this new useless version, I was able to find and reinstall version 2.5.2 by doing a google search for "Yahoo Messenger 2.5.2" and clicking on the cached link to the Yahoo site that is listed first in the search results. However, version 2.5.2 is now crashing as well. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, and cleaning out the preferences all to no avail. I hope it's Yahoo's server or their new protocols that are the problem.

HELP!!! - Doug_in_UK

Downloaded latest version of Yahoo! Messenger (Classic)after previous version failed to work, and this new version is also dead ! After installing....and reinstalling Messenger, all I get when I click on the icon is either 'error 1' , 'error 2' or 'error 3' along with 'the finder needs your attention'. Spent many hours sorting the computer out, until I came here and found that you people were also experiencing similar problems. So it must be a problem at Yahoo!'s end, though their web site does not mention any problems. Even an ancient Messenger I have on CD refuses to work !

HELP!!! - yakkie

I tried v2.5.2 again late last night and actually got an error message which said "The application Yahoo messenger has quit, possibly because the server which contains it has been disconnected" - whatever that means, but it is sure more informative than "type 2" or "type3"

Freezing - Lynette Rowland

Good God! These problems started yesterday before I even downloaded the new version of Yahoo Messenger. All I know is that I can't use the thing at ALL now. I downloaded the newer version thinking that might fix the problem Erased all files from computer to start from scratch. Oh no, still nothing! I emailed yahoo and told them to fix the problem because we can't use the thing even if we download an older version to replace it after we delete all the new/old stuff. If anyone finds anything out can you email me and let me know? lynette@indyschild.com

Thanks!

Lynette
