10.2.8 breaks iMic compatibility

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

After installing 10.2.8 over 10.2.6, my iMic is no longer recognized in the sound control panel, or any other audio application. I was able to restore compatibility by replacing the newer AppleUSBAudio.kext (version 1.7.7) with the older 1.7.6 version that was working under 10.2.6

10.2.8 breaks iMic compatibility -

Try reinstalling drivers: on my mac the imic is recognized and working well, no problem with 10.2.8 at the moment (even if my revolution pci card is not seen anymore, that's why I had to resort to imic again!).
thanks for attention

10.2.8 breaks iMic compatibility FIX ! - bernardinho

At last i discovered a fix. This info was hard to find on the web, so I hope this post is clear enough for people like me who were left without audio in under 10.2.8

If you have Mac OSX 10.2.8 it seems that only Griffin iMics with the 1.1 (1.1.0) firmware upgrade will be recognised. If there is firmware existing beyond 1.1, I can't comment on that. Many iMics are previous to 1.1 though.

Previously there was a 1.0 firmware upgrade (no good) and then a 1.1 firmware upgrade. Both run in classic so first reboot to System 9 (because your iMic isn't being recognised under 10.2.8!). If yours is a Mac that cannot boot in 9.2, then you may have to do this on someone else's machine.

The iMic firmware updater (1.1) is no longer at Griffin's website, but it is currently downloadable from this page
www.focal.co.jp/download
For those who don't know Japanese... the link is directly underneath iMic Control v1.5
and includes the text .. Update 1.1.0
Run the updater with the iMic plugged in and when it is finished unplug and reconnect the iMic so it says that firmware is already updated. That's it.

No problems whatsoever with 10.2.8 and my iMic now updated to firmware 1.1.0 !!!!!
