Existing users, 
I just installed the Java update and restarted. Now Entourage can't connect to any of my email accounts. I can surf the web just fine but I can't get mail now...get a message that server can't be found and that my username or password may be incorrect. Well, evertying was working just fine before the update ,and now after the update my mail isn't working.
I repaired permissions but that had no effect. I've restarted several times and that has had not effect. I've checked my mail accounts setup info and it is all correct. The o nly thing that changed on my system is that I upgraded the Java as per software update.
great...now what?

I agree that it doesn't seem to be related to the update but it's actuall6y 4 different mail servers and there is no way that all 4 were down at the same time. Mysteriously however, all mail accounts are working as expected t his morning. Quite strange.Tuesday, September 09 2003 @ 05:58 AM PDT

No I did not apply any other updates other than the Java update. I restarted 2 or 3 times and rebuild permissions too. I simply didn't work until the next morning then all was fine. REally really bizarre. It might have just been a coincidence but the fact that I had checked my mail successfully right before running software update and installing the java update makes it seem like it was the update that caused the problem. But now that mail is working fine, I don't know what to think. Stray cosmic ray perhaps?Tuesday, September 09 2003 @ 07:33 PM PDT

Now you check to see if your ISP's mailserver is down. That's the most likely explanation. Try something like www.mail2web.com to find out if their servers are working. I doubt that this is a Java-related issue.Reply to This
