At Knowbody we are aware that the pricing strategy is targeted at companies. This product is very focused on solving a problem that especially Newspapers have.

Our existing customers are all companies that have high volume and for these customsers pricing is not the issue. They save much, much more than they actually spent. 1 customer actually saves 8 man-hours every week on one production!

The yearly fee is also our customers warranty! If a new version of InDesign requires an update ... it is not an unplanned cost for our customers. You pay for 1 year only and that is for the use of the newest version at any time! Since we know that InDesign 3.0 is arround the corner and that Adobe probably will release an update every 18 month we need to make sure, that we can affort to update the product.

The pricing strategy is actually based on a request from our customers and we are commited to our large customers and are not trying to sell our plugins for everyone with an InDesign. We would like to sell the plugins for customers that have a significant need for the plugin. Else we might end up supporting plugins for people who only use the plugin once every year. And that is not profitable for anyone.
Basically it comes down to this:
We want to spent our time on projects that make a difference for our customers.

On the other hand:
The more customers that buy the product ... the lower we can set the yearly fee! So join us ... and help to lower the prices ;-)
