Make sure that you do an"uninstall" first. No problems here with eirther of my two computers. HP states that you must uninstall the old software first before installing this new software. My hp 840, 960 and 5mp are working just fine with OS 10.2.6.

Thanks for the tip. Uninstalling the old driver first solved the problem of Mail.app quitting when trying to print e-mail. Too bad VT's summary only says to delete the printer from the print que in Print Center. That's not the same as uninstalling the driver. Still, hp should make driver installers that overwrite the old files completely, rather than causing conflicts.
