This is great news. gcc is very nice and all, but it doesn't produce that fast code. IBM's compiler is highly optimised for the ppc. This will have a huge speed impact on some applications. Let's hope Metrowerks is seeing competition here and puts some effort on faster code too (haven't tried there latest versions so perhaps they already have).
