MacManMatt you reported success using the Sharp VL-WD255 and 0.2 version. Have you tried newest version. My Sharp fails the test, makes backups, and camera is controled fine. Never finds header on restore.

FWIW - this camera works with everything else I throw at it - Final Cut, iMovie, etc...
