"...on the Desktop will bring all open Finder windows to the front" ... so will a simple click on the Finder's Dock icon! Same holds true for any application.

"a simple click..." - Whit G

David, some of us don't want to have to go to the Dock every time we want to switch applications. Maybe it seems trivial to you, but if my mouse is sitting *right beside* a slab of desktop, why would I want to have to reach over to the Dock and click a single icon in order to bring the Finder's windows up? This is especially relevant if you like to keep your Dock small and/or have a dual monitor setup, both of which apply to me. I'm also a macro-key addict, and when I switch to another app from the keyboard, I want the whole app, not just the last window I used in it.

The one-window-at-a-time principle is a valid one, but I still can't believe that Apple forced it on their users, or that it's a more intuitive method for novice users, OR that Apple didn't even give us a Finder preference for it. I for one only want to use that method every once in awhile, which this great little hack will also let me do (by holding down the Shift key). Thanks for the effort, Robb.
