I have a legal store-bought copy of Office X, and on the last update, my serial became invalid for some reason and I had to go through a HUGE process to get a new one. Has anyone who installed this update had this problem yet with this new update? I want to install it, but under no circumstances want to go through that whole thing again.

Same here, no change in number BUT...I had a legitimate number provided by Microsoft. Early copies of Office X had numbers that didn't work at all. If you happened to buy one of those early boxes then......???
At one time, back when Office was introduced, there was a toll free number to call to get a legit number. They then emailed the number as well as providing it verbally. Don't know if they still have that or not.
