Slow, but good for some niches

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: One Day

Recommend Product: YES

Contribute is a pretty nice program, but it is incredibly slow on a 1 GHz powerbook with 1 GB Ram. It looks as though it was written in Flash (has the same widgets as the macromedia site). The registration process on the Macromedia site to get the download was also cumbersome.

Anyway, this program is nice way to give a non power user WYSIWYG access to a website. You can also use Contribute to do access management and version control, which is very helpful if you have multiple contributors to a site with only one real server account.

Pros: Easy to use, not too expensive, SFTP support, version management

Cons: Slow, doesn't seem to support embedded PHP scripting
