It needs to support MSN (all of my friends use MSN in Portugal-Europe), ICQ, Yahoo...

it must be a UNIVERSAL CHAT APP FOR ALL OF US!

I wanted o use his great and simple app all the time, but all my friends are on the "other side"! :-)

Apple can't make iChat compatible with all IM services. The problem is not with Apple. There is currently no standard for IM and Yahoo, MSN, etc. are proprietary networks. Apple had to pick one to work with and AOL's IM network is by far the largest.

There are two IM standards that are competing (XMPP vs. SIMPLE), but we are far from ratification and compliance of a single standard. It is going to be a few years before we see that. Until then the end user will suffer.
