Good: Delicious GUI, intuitive to use, modest but snappy features, convenient, fun.
Bad: a bit buggy (ex: must manually get info and remove pasted icon if attempting to "paste over" an existing customized icon), and too expensive for all but the most hardcore icon fanatics. I have registered CandyBar and would be inclined to buy this too if it were discounted for CandyBar owners. You'd think it would AT LEAST be priced in line with it's competition. Iconfactory rocks, Panic rocks, but this app really isn't THAT much better than IconBox. It's very surprising the authors would choose to charge a more than 30% premium above the cost of an almost identical app by another reputable company (XIcons rocks and ChickenByte can hum a tune). And if your icons are already nicely organized in finder windows then the FREEWARE app Asticones has much of the functionality of both of these apps. Still, aside from the price and a few bugs (which is to be expected in a 1.0 release) this is a GREAT piece of software that I wish this student's budget could accommodate. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a CandyBar buyer/owner sale price. Pretty please?

Good AND Bad - dbrasgalla
Dave B. from IF here... I feel I have to point out that the problem with replacing already-customised icons in the Finder is not a bug in Pixadex - it's a well-documented Finder bug that has yet to be fixed by Apple. Users will continue to have this problem until Apple does so.As for pricing, the our policy is driven by development costs, long-term customer support and quality control considerations, as well as other internal factors between Panic and Iconfactory. The feature set and pricing for Pixadex were determined long before either competing product was launched, and I can assure you that the decisions were not reactionary in nature. Pixadex bridges the gap between IconDropper in OS 9 and similar functionality in OS X at the same price point (actually, a little less), while adding many more useful features.
I'm glad you are pleased with the program and we hope you'll grow to rely on it enough to register. If not, then thank you for downloading it and giving it a fair appraisal!
