I used MacHTTP ages ago, when the choices were between that, WebStar and nothing, but ... aside from a kind of hot rodder's interest in polishing old chrome, what's the point these days? Apache comes with every Mac, sets up easily, and synergizes with MySQL, PHP, phpMyAdmin and Safari (or MSIE) on localhost (or yourrendevous.local) absolutely brilliantly.

Oh, one other thing - a total of over 80 downloads suggest a not entirely worthless product :) Besides, I've also had 38 downloads of MacASP-error acgi bridge in about 2 days, and who besides active error acgi/MacASP users would even bother downloading that? That said, I prefer my own folder listing pages to Apache virtual directory listings - I get Finder comments in mine directly, for one thing. Plus handling of ilht files (which appear as hyperlinks). If I got a new machine and switched to Apache, I'd miss my own code here :) error acgi is Mac savvy, after all.

a) Apologies for the confusion - no, this is not a DTP/prepress app. DTP apps are thataway *points*. Dunno what happened there with VT... :)b) Apache? Well, other than that I'm using a StarMax 4000/200 clone running Mac OS 9.1 (for which the Apache port (WebTen) is commercial). As the credits imply, I wrote this for myself, and Hubert Garrido encouraged me to make it more flexible, and it made sense - others can now use it too. Besides, quite a few people still use MacHTTP, and while I'm perfectly aware that I'm duplicating Apache functionality with this, I hope I'm also offering MacHTTP users a bit more power for their machines.
After all, no-one's making you download this :)
