I'm a professional DJ, and am quite handy with a pair of Technics and a basic mixer. So when I unleashed one of my simpler pairs to match (two hard house songs with simple and lengthy intros and exits), it surprised me when it managed to butcher and "trainwreck" these two songs. This occurs when two songs have been fairly closely matched, but for some reason, the second song has been started too early or too late. It results in a stacatto sound that sounds absolutely awful. This program does better than average on trance-like songs that better lend themselves to basic crossfades... but then again, so does iTunes. The 10 seconds is also way way too short. A nice fade can take about 15-20 seconds, and quite a few songs have the lengthy intros necessary to do so.

Admittedly, it did much better (but my no means well), on my UK hard house.

Much of the DJ science is preparing tracks so that the follow each other cleanly. On the whole, Ask the DJ agreed with my selections, which is nice. However, its inability to match most of my songs cleanly is disappointing.

Finally, it does a poor job of finding songs. I own three different versions of Duran Duran's Ordinary World (all on LP), yet it only found one when I typed "Ordinary" in the search field. It also didn't accept a few songs from my playlist, although they were MP3s. Perhaps it doesn't like variable bit rate songs?

In short, this program has a gaudy and difficult interface, an inability to sucessfully match even basic transitions, and a lackluster search capability. Improve your interface, improve your tranistions, lengthen the maximum transition length, and this program will be worth the $30 price of admission.
