Like others I think this is a great idea for backup. Many of us own perfectly capable tape backup drives in the form of DV cameras, and might as well use them for something other than home movies and vacation memories.

But this software is incompatible with my brand new Canon Optura 20. This isn't a bargain-basement camera; it's Canon's new top of the line MiniDV offering. The "camera test" feature says that both 'Go to index position' and 'eject tape' functions aren't supported on the Optura 20. But this camera does have indexing features, which makes me doubt the results of the test.

If you have a newer camera, good luck to you getting this software to work. And I hope the author finds a way to keep his software compatible with the latest offerings by the camera manufacturers.
