One thing I've been wondering if someone would put together, is an application like this, which can run on a single box on the network and present itself to the network as a printer. Then, with a custom written PPD (or similar), any Mac (or possibly also PC) could 'print' a document and have it transmitted across a phoneline, to a recipient.
(of course, there would have to be way to enter the recipient's fax number, but that could be done in the customised PPD)
Is this a pipedream, or would such a 'Fax Server' solution be fairly easy to create?
(I guess linking it to an address book of some sort would not be such an easy thing to achieve.)
Just a thought.:)

Fax Server? - cclauset
Page Sender supports Mac OS X 10.2.x printer sharing to allow this type of function. You have to install Page Sender on each computer to get the front-end for addressing the fax, but it works as a fax server with the following limitations: you can't send to >20 recipients at once, you can't add attachments to a fax (you must fax each document independently), fax status information is only available on the Mac that is sharing Page Sender, and you can only use the default cover page (see the Page Sender Read Me for information on how to edit the defautl cover page).Reply to This
