I'm not sure I'll find much use for this, though it is interesting to play with a bit. What iCal really needs is menu bar integration like Now Up to Date & Contact have. Burnout menu doesn't cut it, and Mical won't try... This does what itsays, but takes up way to much screen space to do me much good. Also - it doesn't handle 0 duration events very well: they linger forever - This has got to be a bug. 3 stars for an interesting though not compelling or useful piece of freeware, but 1 star off for letting something as obvious as the zero duration bug to slip by.

Hi Karl,I'm not keen on any of the display options. Tried them all but just can't adapt. I just want a pull down menu, but its not your job to make that for me.
The 0 duration thing seems fixed now.
As for ratings, yeah, we could probably go on for days - but here's the policy I go by: There's a lot of stuff I never try - you won't see me commenting at all on SQL apps or iTunes visual plugins, or most games. But, if I download it and try it, I have shown enough (bare minimum) interest in the application.
Sometimes descriptions don't do a proggie justice, sometimes the description does more than the app does! I feel obliged to comment upon it, for the benefit of the developer and potential users; I rely quite a bit on the feedback of others before I even bother to d/l anything.
Its not that I find iCV of little relevance. I am presently looking for and evaluating anything that uses or displays iCal data in a way other than through the iCal app. I did call it interesting, and do believe its innovative - but not the "thing" for me in its present state.

Hi riffraff,Perhaps we should take this discussion to email?
You described your position well and I agree with it.
I guess my issue is that iCalViewer is all about displaying events the way it does, so critisising it for that seems to be akin to critisising a word processor for doing word processing - if you get what I mean.
Of course, I have plans for additions and changes. Can I ask you what it is that you would want to see in an application like this?
Regards,
Karl

G'day riffraff,Thanks for the comment. I would like to reply to some of the things you mentioned:
- screen space.
Have you tried the desktop mode? That takes up zero extra space. The transparent mode might be of interest too. Also, you might want to consider the screen saver from an earlier version or wait a few days.
- 0 duration events
I just tried one out. No problem for me. Can you give me more information? kgg@mac.com
- rating
I am surprised you would rate a product you find of little relevance. For example, I would not consider rating a database application because I never use them. I guess considerations when rating are a long discussion in themselves!
Anyway, thanks again
Karl
