There was a problem with the original installer that was posted on the St. Clair Software web site. The installer "expired" after 72 hours (this appears to be a bug in Installer VISE, which was used to build our installer).

We posted a new version on Sunday that doesn't have this problem. You have to download it again - sorry about that.

Regarding the complaints about the performance of 1.7, there is a problem. I've isolated it and am currently testing a solution. I hope to have version 1.7.1 out in the next day or two. Stability-wise, the same bug that causes the performance problems may affect stability on machines equipped with smaller amounts of RAM or older graphics cards (the problem is that DFX is causing the window server to allocate too much memory, which both drags down performance and can make it flakier in extreme situations).

I'm sorry for the problems - anyone that needs a quicker fix can feel free to contact support@stclairsoft.com to get a pre-release copy of 1.7.1.

Again, my apologies for any problems this may have caused anyone.

Problem with installer, speed, stability - swithrow

This is why St. Clair Software is tops in my book. When there's a problem, they acknowledge it, and bust a move to fix it. Certain other large software companies could learn a thing or two from St. Clair.
