This is by far one of the best screensavers I have found. When I first saw it on TechTV:TheScreenSavers I was stunned. I was then stunned again to find out that it was only Windows based. I, along with I don't know how many kept bugging and urging the author to port it to the Macintosh. When he finally did, I bought a copy within a week, and have been using it since.
alansfraser, interesting point about the monitor but I think everyone does have a legitimist point about the price. $20 does seem high for a singe screensaver. Even if it is one of the coolest savers around.
Flip side of the coin. I know what it takes to code something like this. 3D poly textures, multi-layer environment, gel shading for a shimmering effect, not to mention collision detection and a low-level AI for each fish.
The things that would make this saver better at this point would be to have the fish interact with each other (a peaking order? Fights?). Maybe a more realistic aquarium, where one can over/under/feed the fish, have to clean the glass, or tap on the glass.
