Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Recommend Product: YES

The fact that this program needs the Quicktime MPEG-2 plug-in should be stated. I downloaded and paid for the plug-in and then tried this program out. It works! The ability to retrieve video and sound from DVDs burned with iDVD elliminates the need to archive video files...I'm just going to burn a second copy of each DVD as my back-up from now on. I burn DVDs of family stuff mostly so this is more than adequate for my needs.

Thanks!

Needs MPEG-2 QT plug-in. - ravedog--2008

You don't need any programs to make copies of your iDVD (or iDVD studio pro if there is no disc encryption)... use Disk Copy from Apple... (do a search on apple's support site for Disk Copy iDVD)... it will clone the disc.

Using a program like this (and others) will convert MPEG2 to Quicktime but u will eventually have to reconvert it back to MPEG2 if u are going to make another DVD. Thats twice the material has gone thru MPEG2 compression.

The only purpose for a product like this is if u want to take the material off the DVD and edit it or downsample it to a smaller size for viewing purposes. But don't use it to make copies... it won't get thru the copy protection on commercial releases anyway...
