After using OS X for over a year I had an urgent need for backing up
some stuff just now (I want to re-partition to make room for the long
overdue YellowDog partition).
I had to realise that OS X doesn't ship with *any* backup facility. The
usual suspects (tar, cpio, pax) are broken since they don't fully support
the native filesystem. The only Apple alternative is to become a "full paying
member" of some online service (.mac). How is that related to a basic
sysadmin tasks??
I'm glad I found this utility, which is *exactly* what I need. Please
don't add a GUI. Firstly, I can't see how it would help, secondly, backup/
restore utilities have to be minimal to be useful for disaster recovery.
One possible future project could be an interactive restore facility,
a la "restore -i", just so I don't have to go through the file list myself.
Cheers
