Give me more control over GUI or make it better!

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: One Day

I really miss the snappy and preciseness of the OS 9. Give the OS X users more control over desktop font and shadow option. Also Apple's BS Quarts or whatever does not look better than OS 9 desktop display of fonts. Also make this OS X as snappy as the OS 9. When I compare the two, the OS X feels like I'm watching the folder open and close in slow motion! Stop fiddling with iTune and other music stuff and concentrate your effort in creating an OS that is better than OS 9 in every respect! Maybe that is why apple is trying to come up with a faster processor so the operating system will seem faster. Give me an operating system that will run all my pro graphic application that the OS 9 used to run.

Give me more control over GUI or make it better! - Doug Stringham

If you can't see the difference in teh quality of rendering of the fonts between OS
X and OS 9.... buddy you must be blind.

Hey Doug, I am not talking about how pretty the fonts render on screen. I
have a 20 Cinema Display. It is how well you can read in production. Whe
fonts are small such as 8, 9, or 10 points, sometime it is better not to be
anti-aliased. Also try selecting a finder text and correct a character between
OS 9 and OS 10, see which is more precise. If are not blind, OS 9 is much
more precise. You will see this if you are not blind. Don't get me wrong, I do
see the benifits of OS X.

10.2.6 update does what it says...

as for this poster's comments...
so if os 9 is so awesome use it no one is stoping you - you evidently don't have a need for what OS X has to offer I personally see a drastic improvemtn of how the os functions... yes OS X is a touch slower but it's also 1000000Xs more complex and 500% more stable. No one is forcing you to use X if 9 works for your needs feel free to use it.

dozx, Don't get me wrong, I do see the benifits of OS X. Yes, I do really like
the multi-tasking feature.

What I'm asking is that give users the option of having more control over
GUI. If you are happy with the fuzzy anti-aliased finder text, then you use it.
For the professionals that want a little more control and prciseness, let us
use the sharper and crispier finder text and control.

Well use OS9 then.

Your own personal luddite opinion does NOT constitute a rating of this software
update. As mentioned, if the 'snappiness' of OS9 appeals to you, boot up in OS9.
No one is forcing you to use 10.
And as far as fonts looking better? I've been a Mac user since 1986 using Macs for
DTP and professional graphics, and never has the system looked so good. Smooth
fonts, quartz transparency and alpha, improved UI... Your ignorance! Consider that
in OS9, if a dialogue box was invoked, other user interactivity was stopped. Only
one application launching at a time. Now we have a reasonable level of
multitasking, which is BOUND to slow things up a bit. But it's a small comprimise,
as the benefits are worth it. Touch wood, since the advent of OSX, as a company
we've saved ££££'s due to increased productivity. So how can this be S L O W E
R....???? Methinks if you don't like it, don't use it.

I'm not here to say nice and pretty things about the OSX. I want to voice
things that need more improvements. You are to tell me that you can get
around the OSX faster than the OS9 doing professional work all day using
pro graphic apps!! Then I do not know what kind of work you do but you do
not understand the meaning of precision and productivity.

2 stars for "quality/stability"? You don't know what you're talking about. OS X has so many advantages over 9 (stability, protected memory, and multithreading being the biggest) that I can sacrifice a little speed. Besides, OS X is pretty "snappy" on my TiBook. Maybe you need a new computer?
