POPmonitor is a great product that actually permits you to access and control your email without first loading it onto your machine. This prevents hostile spammers from using script to confirm their trash was delivered. You can even bounce the stuff from your server if you want to.

As for children...Two steps is all it takes to insure they never get another spam unless it comes from a trusted sender.

First, set up a filter that automatically deletes any message that does not have their actual name (or a special phrase of your choosing). This will allow others to send you an email that contains the required name or phrase so you can add them to your trusted senders without typing it in. Second, make sure the trusted list is up to date and accurate.

Trusted senders are not subjected to any other filter, so they get through no matter what, anyone else sending a message MUST include the special requirement you have established in your child's filters. If it's not there, the message is never seen.

I've been running POPmonitor for over a year and my two children have not ever gotten a single spam nor even the subject line of a spam. POPmonitor deletes it from the server without them ever seeing it. SWEET!!! :)

For adults, this measure might be a bit drastic, but for young ones, it is very desirable.
